The woman, said to be in her 20s, was attacked while walking her 8-month-old dog in the area of Market and Windsor streets around midnight on Monday, Dec. 5, Cambridge Police report.

The woman said the male suspect, who was wearing all black and a black ski mask, was walking on the other side of the road when he turned around and approached her.

He then reportedly tackled the woman to the ground and hit her multiple times. The woman refused medical transportation, according to police.

The man then took off with the woman's dog, named Jax, who was eventually reunited with his owner after being found by a Good Samaritan on Monday afternoon, police said.

Investigators have since released surveillance footage of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact police at 617-349-3300 or 911 in an emergency.
